Wow I had no idea it has been over a year since my last post, that’s shocking!
Well here I am and to get things up and running I thought I’d talk a little more about the net in the last year as that’s how long it seems I’ve been away, it’s only a few posts back that I was posting about how Facebook is the next big thing, and now everone has gone mental about Twitter! These things seem very cyclicle as with Politics the people like change, they embrace it, they feel that the next big thing, or idea, or politician, or gadget has to be better than the last. They feel that change means progress when it’s not entirely true (As anyone who saw the second series of Heroes will agree with).
Change can be good and galvanising, just look at Obama, but lets face it he doesn’t have a lot to live up to, to surpass the last guy. In British politics things don’t seem as clear cut, change seems inevitable but is it for the best, is it for the right reasons, or is it beacuse the new guy has to be better than the old guy because he’s new?
Talking of change I have also changed jobs since I was last here, was this a good change or not? Well things are never really that simple are they, in lots of ways this was a good change, more money, more responsibility, more free time as it’s closer to home, but what sometimes also feels like more work, less variety in what I do, smaller budgets but no-one else telling me how to spend them, less time working around other people that share my interests and views. All in all it’s a good change but I miss the people I worked with more than anything else.
First saw this and thought it was fantastic. Then found out it’s a rip off of someone elses idea and felt a bit let down, never the less a great and effective ad
Now this looks very very cool, it seems to me the PS3 is looking like THE home entertainment hub what with the Blu-Ray player, the only thing letting it down at the moment seems to be the games
There are guides galore for Gmail and how to use IMAP but how do you actually get it? They are supposed to be rolling it out to everyone but I’ve been checking for ages and nothing. After setting up an account for my Brother at Christmas and it appearing instantly I was understandably a bit pissed and confused as I’d had my account for years and still stuck with POP access.
So before I tell you how to get it here’s why you should want it. POP lets you access your emails on any mail client and that’s it, IMAP ensures that changes you make to either web mail or your email client are synced with each other.
If you don’t have it available on your settings page the way I found that did it instantly was to change my language to English (US)
Once I’d done this I simply logged out and back in again and the IMAP option was there, hope this helps someone as I’ve been banging my head against a brick wall on this one for ages.
Busy, busy, busy, It’s Christmas and it can’t come too soon, as you can see Joshua is more than ready for his first Christmas. The presents are wrapped, work is oh so very close to being over and even though I’ve missed all but one of the Christmas parties this year I’m feeling pretty festive.
Well as my messages are becoming more and more infrequent and I have no idea if anyone out there is actually reading I shall say a quick Merry Christmas to anyone there, hopefully much more writing and photos in the New Year.
Well it’s been a month of leave, I still have a couple of days left but I’ll be going back on Wednesday and I know it’s going to be amazingly weird not being with Joshua and Teenie 24 hours a day. He’s just started being a bit more aware of toys around him, but of course sleeps a hell of a lot as well, at least it’s a short week, but I can’t believe the year is nearly over, in all it’s been prety damn amazing I got promoted, found out I was going to be a dad, BECAME a dad, and now everything seems very very different.
Yup last Wednesday little Johua Kai finally emerged and is now home and well as is his Mum. It’s really an amazing feeling that is half shock and half awe. It’s been less than a week and you can already see him getting his own little personality and everything just feels right. I’m sure I have my sister in-law and her husband to thank for that as they now have a 5 week oldand I’ve picked up lots of tips watching them. It was only yesterday when we were left on our own that it’s finally all sunk in.
The birth itself went well and Teenie was amazing using only Gas and Air and the birthing pool, no screaming but that was because she had the gas tube firmly between her teeth. After the birth I took him as she got out the pool he fed straight away but Teenie had lost too much blood as I could see in the pool. I can now never EVER watch Jaws in the same way again. (A bit like how Fathers who attend a Caesarian start seeing John Hurt everywhere).
She got rushed to the labour ward and was surrounded by Doctors leaving me with Joshua, everyone was amazing and letting me know that it was all just for precaution but it still scared the hell out of me.
After a few days in hospital and blood transfusion later we were all finally home I was more exhausted from all the worry and travelling than now with little Josh here, so the tiredness and napy changing hasn’t been so bad.
Better get going but my words of advice to any Dads to be are, it changes everything but in a good way, and not in a way you can really explain or understand till it happens, and of course it’s going to be amazing! (oh and saying “over” on a baby monitor ever gets old).
